ART: Still Life with Oil Pastel
A big thank you to Hildreth Farms for donating a class set of gourds, squash and pumpkins for us to sketch! Students started first by observing their gourd/squash/pumpkin. Next, they lightly sketched with a pencil and finally they used oil pastel to add colour.

MATH: Data Management - Graphing
As you will have seen on Google Classroom, we have started out next Math unit on Graphing. We began with Pictographs and will be moving on to Bar Graphs next. This week we discussed the importance of the key and what it needs to contain (an appropriate picture and a scale). We explored the importance of picking a scale that matches with our collected data.

LEARNING BUDDIES
Believe it or not, but our Learning Buddies are also working on their Graphing unit! This week we helped them collect data, use tally marks and colour in a Halloween themes Bar Graph. We were even lucky enough to have a visit from Sue and Trinket (a therapy dog).

SCIENCE: The Rock Cycle
After completing our Chatterpix projects on Metamorphic, Sedimentary and Igneous rocks, we have moved on to looking more closely at the Rock Cycle. Students watched a video which compared the Rock Cycle to the Recycling and then explored a website that had an interactive Rock Cycle animation. We brainstormed the important words of the Rock Cycle and then students worked in partners to draw their own version of the Rock Cycle. (Pictures of the final products to come!)

Halloween Fun!
Thank you to all the parents who were a part of our Halloween festivities! Everyone had a great time at the party making slime, playing Bingo, participating at the guessing jar station, playing capture the pumpkin, snacking, and of course the very exciting game of pass the parcel!
